Community Education for Economic Development (CEED)
The Community Education for Economic Development Program (CEED) of the Elizabeth Stone House has been developed to make economic literacy accessible, support every woman’s development of a Personal Economic Plan, and provide referrals and a springboard from which to make informed voluntary choices from a wide range of educational, training, and employment opportunities. CEED also fosters women’s leadership in community organizations and collaboratives in order to positively impact planning and implementation of neighborhood development.
The Stone House CEED Program can provide curriculum materials and trainings for facilitators, advocates, and program planners.
Personal Economic Planning (PEP) Offers a Phase I and Phase II - five to eleven week economic literacy and financial goal-setting and planning. This course supports women to identify internal and external resources and access tools to define and pursue a personal economic development strategy.
Women’s Business Opportunity Program (WBOP) is a micro enterprise program that increases participants’ economic literacy, self-esteem, practical skills, and facilitates the establishment of new businesses. Through WBOP’s three phase program, women conceive, plan, obtain financing, start-up businesses, and become members of the ESH: WBOP Business Network.
"It is not a rigid classroom atmosphere with just a book and a teacher, but a classroom of ideas and identities, and cultural awareness, as well as talent…I realize that as an individual I am in tune to my community, to my culture, and to my future goals as a business person."
Joan Jones, WBOP participant
Economic Advocacy
Along with the seminars, the CEED program offers one on one Economic Advocacy. With Economic Advocacy, we aim for economic independence by working with clients to improve their credit/debt situation and by working on their economic barriers, through involvement in school, job training, an internship, or employment.
